The Story
of Stack'd Everyday Napkins by Sister Made
Stack'dEveryday Napkins by SisterMade were born out of my efforts to get my family to
stop bringing a roll of paper towels to the dinner table. I loved the idea of cloth napkins, but didn't
want to make work for myself. So I
decided to reinvent the napkin and I sewed up a batch of my own. I made them double-sided so they would be
durable. I made them rectangle so they
would sit perfectly on the lap and echo the traditional napkin's folded
dimensions. And I picked beautiful
prints so they would always look pretty displayed on the table and they would
hide stains. Most of all they would
never need ironing.
I
made 20 of these prototypes and tested them for one year. What my family and I discovered is that these
new napkins were better, much better, for the modern family's casual dining
needs. Displayed in a glass vase or a
basket, they could be left on the table and used as needed without the guilt of
paper or stress of perfection. The handy
tabs make grabbing them and stacking them easy.
And they are so sturdy and pretty that they always returned with the
lunchbox from school.

My Sister Colleen |
Soon
my friend's noticed them and wanted to try them. Most came back for more. And more.
So I started my company, Stack'd, to meet the growing demand. My sister, Colleen Graham, and I were already
avid sewers (we grew up in Venice Beach where our mom had a beachfront store
where she made string bikinis and dashikis in the 60s) so we collaborated on
the napkins and began selling them through our SisterMade store on Etsy (no longer on Etsy)

From our local Farmers Market |
Stack'dare 100% cotton and pre-washed in eco-friendly soap. Each one is handmade with attention to
quality and detail. They do not need
ironing. Simply lay flat directly from
the dryer. I recommend a stack of 24 to
get started. Place them on the table
beside a container of silverware and you're ready for dinner, effortlessly,
everyday.
